Frame rate
Also called: fps, frames per second, framerate
24fps carries the slight motion blur people read as cinematic. 25 and 30 look more immediate and are the norm for talking-head work. 50 and 60 give clean fast motion and the headroom to slow footage down later, so shoot at double your delivery rate if you plan to halve the speed of anything. Shutter speed is the setting most often confused with this: frame rate decides how many frames you get, while shutter speed decides how much blur sits inside each one.
