YouTube niche decider
Pick the niches you could genuinely make videos in, answer three questions, and see them ranked for your goal, format, and hours.
Pick at least two — a ranking of one is just a mirror.
Most niche advice is a list of RPMs with “pick finance” at the top, which ignores everything that actually decides whether a channel survives: whether you can talk about the topic for years, whether the format works without your face if you don’t want it on camera, and whether a typical video fits the hours you really have. This tool compares only the niches you could genuinely make videos in, and ranks them for your goal — ad revenue, sponsorships, selling your own thing, or the audience itself.
The RPM ranges are the same estimates the earnings calculator uses, so the two tools never disagree. Everything else in the score is a stated judgement — evergreen demand, production weight, sponsor appetite, faceless viability — written out in each result with the strongest honest case against every niche it ranks. Same answers, same ranking, every time, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the ranking work?
- Each niche you pick is scored on the factor your goal makes matter most — ad RPM for ad revenue, brand appetite for sponsorships, evergreen search demand for selling your own thing — plus how its production weight fits your hours and whether it works in your format. The weights and reasoning are shown in the result, and the same answers always give the same ranking.
- Where do the numbers come from?
- The RPM ranges are the same estimates the earnings calculator uses, built from commonly reported figures. The other gradings — evergreen demand, production weight, faceless viability, sponsor appetite — are stated judgements, written out in each result so you can read them and disagree. Nothing is dressed up as measured data.
- Why can I only rank niches I select?
- Because "finance pays the most" is useless advice for someone with nothing to say about finance. The decider compares the niches you could genuinely sustain, which is the only comparison that matters. The niche you can keep uploading in beats the one with the better RPM.
- Should I just pick the highest-RPM niche?
- No. High RPM attracts the most competition per viewer, and RPM only matters if the videos get made. Interest, format fit, and the hours you actually have decide whether a channel survives its first year; the money multiplies what survives.
- Is it really free?
- Free and unlimited, with no account, no card, and no email. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you answer is sent anywhere.
