Altered or synthetic content disclosure

The requirement covers anything that could be mistaken for real: a person made to appear to say or do something they did not, footage of an actual place or event that has been changed, or a convincing scene of something that never happened. Obviously unreal or animated material falls outside it, as do ordinary production tools, beauty filters, colour work, upscaling and captions. You tick the box at upload and YouTube attaches the label, in the expanded description for most content and more visibly on the player for some. Disclosing costs you no reach and no monetisation. Repeatedly failing to disclose can cost both.
