Time-lapse

A camera fires once every few seconds, or every few minutes, and the resulting stills play back at 24 or 30 frames a second. Whatever interval you set decides the compression ratio. You are stuck with it, because there is no way to invent frames afterwards. Creators use it to cover a wait without spending runtime on it: a build, a bake, a drive, a room being decorated. Two things ruin most attempts and both are avoidable, a camera nudged partway through and changing light that makes the exposure flicker frame by frame, which no grading will smooth out later.
