Adobe Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro handles the ordinary editing job: multi-camera, colour, audio mixing, titles and delivery, with the rest of Creative Cloud sitting alongside it. Its real advantage is ubiquity. Most freelance editors already know it, project files pass between people without argument, and the round trip to After Effects for motion graphics is direct. Against it: the subscription never ends. It asks more of your hardware than the competition does, and its stability reputation is patchy enough that sensible creators keep autosave intervals short. The usual alternatives are DaVinci Resolve, with a capable free version and stronger colour tools, and Final Cut Pro on Mac, sold once.
