Mixing

Also called: mixdown, audio mix, balancing levels

Mixing sets the relationships: how far under the voice the music sits, how loud a transition lands, whether a guest matches the host. It runs alongside light processing on each element, such as high-pass filtering, compression to even out delivery, and ducking that dips music automatically when someone speaks.

Dialogue leads. Music competing with a voice makes viewers strain or reach for the subtitles, and both cost attention. Check the mix on more than one device before publishing, since laptop speakers, phone speakers and headphones all lie in different directions, and listen once at a low volume, where balance problems become obvious.
