Colour space
Also called: color space, gamut
A colour space sets the boundaries of the colours a signal can describe, along with how the numbers in a file map onto brightness. Rec. 709 is the standard for high definition video and is what most YouTube uploads should be delivered in. Wider spaces such as DCI-P3 and Rec. 2020 hold more saturated colours and belong to cinema and HDR work.
Mismatches cause most of the trouble. Footage shot in a log profile looks flat and grey until it is converted into a viewing space.
