Over-the-shoulder shot

Also called: OTS

The near shoulder sits soft in a corner of frame while the person being listened to stays sharp. It gives the viewer somewhere to stand. A two-person interview starts to feel like a scene rather than two talking heads filmed separately. Keep the camera on the same side of the imaginary line between the pair, or the two of them will appear to be looking in the same direction instead of at each other.
