Prime lens

Also called: fixed focal length lens

A 35mm or 50mm prime is the standard talking-head choice for good reasons. The wide aperture gives you shallow depth of field and clean background blur, and it lets you shoot in less light without pushing ISO. The cost is that you zoom with your feet, which matters less than people expect on a one-person set where the camera is already framed.
