Timeline

Horizontal tracks run left to right, video stacks upward, audio sits underneath, and a playhead marks where you are. Premiere and Resolve call one a sequence. Keep tracks meaningful, with dialogue on one and music on another, so a change made later touches only what you meant it to touch. A messy timeline is why a 5-minute change eats an afternoon.
