Video scopes

Also called: scopes, colour scopes

Your eyes adapt, your monitor lies, and the room you grade in changes what you see. Scopes end the argument. The waveform shows brightness from black at the bottom to white at the top, so you can place skin tones and check nothing is clipping. The parade splits that into red, green and blue channels, which is how you spot a colour cast. The vectorscope shows hue and saturation.
