Vocal variety

Also called: vocal delivery, intonation

Flat delivery loses people quicker than a weak script does, because a level voice gives the ear nothing to track. The strongest tool is the pause. Slowing right down before something that matters signals importance without you having to announce it. Reading a script aloud while recording is usually where this dies, as the eye scans ahead and the voice flattens into a report.
