Also called: auto captions, auto-generated subtitles
YouTube runs speech recognition over most uploads and attaches the result as a caption track, usually within minutes on a short video. Accuracy depends on audio quality, accent, people talking over each other and how much jargon you use, and product names are where it fails most visibly.
Treat the automatic track as a draft. Studio lets you open it, correct the text and republish, which takes a fraction of the time typing subtitles from scratch would. Leaving errors live costs more than it looks, since a wrong caption confuses a deaf viewer more than no caption at all.
