Camera slider

Sits between a locked-off tripod shot and a handheld gimbal walk. The move is repeatable and its length is fixed by the rail, typically 40cm to a metre on the models creators own. Manual sliders are pushed by hand, while motorised ones run at a set speed and can repeat a pass exactly or crawl through a timelapse. B-roll is the everyday job: a slow drift across a desk, around a product, or past something in the foreground to get parallax. Speed is where it goes wrong. Slow and short reads as deliberate, while a fast slide across empty space just reads as a camera on a rail.
