Gimbal

Also called: motorised gimbal, handheld stabiliser

Sensors detect unwanted rotation and the motors counter it, so walking shots and slow moves come out smooth instead of jittery. Balance the camera properly before switching it on, otherwise the motors spend their time fighting the weight and buzzing into your audio. A gimbal handles rotation and does very little about the up-and-down bounce of your own footsteps, which still needs a rolling heel-to-toe walk. Most creators over-buy here.
