False copyright claim

The label covers two situations. One is an automated Content ID match against material the claimant does not own, including public domain recordings, stock music you licensed properly, and your own footage that somebody else uploaded first. The other is a deliberate takedown filed to silence criticism or to demand payment, which has been a running racket against small channels for years. Both can be disputed, and filing a claim you know to be false breaks YouTube's rules and carries legal exposure outside the platform. The real cost is usually the delay, since none of this resolves quickly.
