Live ad break

Also called: mid-roll ad break, insert ad break

Monetised live streams can run mid-rolls in three modes: automatic, scheduled or manual. On manual, nothing runs until you press the button in Live Control Room, which lets you take the break during a quiet stretch instead of over the moment everyone tuned in for. YouTube is upfront that manual and scheduled modes usually earn less than automatic, because fewer breaks get filled. That is the trade. Live mid-rolls can also run side by side, with the stream continuing in a smaller window while the ad plays, and automatic mode has a delay button that holds ads back for 10 minutes when something is happening you would rather not interrupt.
