There is no edit, so pacing, mistakes and dead air all reach the viewer, and in exchange you get chat, questions answered in the moment, and Super Chat or membership prompts landing while attention is high. A public stream is archived automatically, so the recording sits on the channel afterwards and keeps collecting views. Two things get underestimated. A stream needs promoting in advance, because most of a live audience comes from people who already knew it was on, and the archive usually wants trimming before it is worth pointing a new viewer at.
