Mid-Roll Ad

Also called: midroll, mid roll, mid-video ad

Pre-roll and post-roll sit outside the video. A mid-roll lands inside it, and that is why placement gets argued about. The slots can be inserted automatically by YouTube, marked by you in Studio, or both at once on the same video. YouTube's system avoids breaking mid-sentence or mid-action and looks for natural seams instead, a pause or a scene change, because interrupting the wrong moment sends the viewer away rather than to the advertiser. Eligibility depends on the video passing a minimum length and on the channel already earning ad revenue, so a new channel has nothing to decide here yet.
