Editing & Post-Production

Picture-in-picture

Also called: PiP, inset, facecam inset

The layout gives you two sources at once: what is being shown, and the person reacting to it. Standard for gameplay, tutorials and screen shares, where the inset keeps a face on screen while the main image does the explaining. A few things separate a good inset from a distracting one. Keep it clear of the corners where the timestamp and the player controls appear, size it so the face stays readable on a phone, and move it whenever it covers something that matters. Check it against a vertical crop too, if you plan to cut Shorts out of the same recording.
