Raw video

A raw clip stores what the sensor captured before the camera bakes in white balance, colour and most of its processing. BRAW, ProRes RAW and CinemaDNG are the flavours you meet. The payoff is latitude in post: white balance becomes a slider, ISO is often adjustable after the fact, and heavy grades hold together. The cost is everything else. Files run several times larger than compressed formats, playback needs a machine that can keep up, and the footage looks flat and wrong until it is graded. Raw and log get confused constantly, and log is a gamma curve applied to a normal compressed recording rather than the sensor data itself.
