Packaging: Titles, Thumbnails & Hooks

Swipe file

Also called: inspiration file, reference file

Every creator who packages well keeps one. A swipe file is a folder, board or spreadsheet of work that made you click, saved with a note on why it worked. Screenshots of thumbnails, lists of titles, opening lines, sponsor reads, anything. The value comes from volume and from the note. Fifty saved thumbnails with no reasoning attached teach you nothing, while ten with a line each about the tension or the promise give you a working vocabulary. Use it for structure and technique. Lifting a specific thumbnail from a channel in your own category gets noticed, usually by the person who made it.
