Packaging: Titles, Thumbnails & Hooks
Video title
Also called: title
Titles do two jobs at once. A viewer scanning home or search reads yours in about a second and decides whether the promise is worth their time, while YouTube's systems read the same words as machine input, comparing them against other titles to work out what your video sits near. Studio lets you test up to three against each other over a period of up to two weeks, and the result only means something if the thumbnail stays fixed throughout. Changing a title later changes how people react to the listing and nothing else. It does not re-index the video or earn it a fresh push.
