Live Streaming & Premieres

Top chat

Also called: top chat filter

Two views exist during a stream. Top chat is the default, and it hides messages likely to be spam, impersonation or otherwise unwanted, judged on signals from the message text, the handle, the channel name and the avatar. Live chat shows everything as it arrives, unfiltered. This is why a viewer can swear they asked something the host never saw. It is also why moderators usually work from the unfiltered view while the streamer reads Top chat. If you host and moderate alone, switching to Live chat once during a stream tells you how much is being held back on your behalf.
