Streamer

Also called: live streamer

The work differs from edited video in almost every respect. Hours are long and scheduled, the audience expects to be spoken to by name, and there is no edit to hide a slow patch. Income usually leans on subscriptions, tips and sponsorship, and the community becomes the product.

Most streamers now run on more than one platform, or cut short vertical video out of the stream as a discovery layer, because a live broadcast is poor at finding new people by itself. The word covers a huge range. It started in gaming and now takes in art, coding, cooking and study-along channels.
