YouTube offers three latency settings on a live stream, and this is the fastest of them. It cuts the gap between what you do and what the audience sees to the smallest the platform supports, which makes chat feel like a conversation and suits streams built on requests, quizzes and live reaction.
Stability is the trade. With less buffer held back, a wobble in your upload reaches viewers as stalling, so it wants a wired connection and someone watching the stream health. It also drops support for the highest resolutions. For a presentation with no live interaction, the slower settings give a smoother watch.
