Monetisation & Revenue

Valid Public Shorts Views

Also called: 10 million Shorts views, Shorts view threshold

Full monetisation needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours from long-form and live video in a year, or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days. The lower tier that unlocks fan funding needs 500 subscribers, three uploads in 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views. One detail catches people out. Since March 2025 the plain views number on a Short counts every play, so it runs well ahead of the stricter measure YouTube renamed engaged views, and eligibility still runs on engaged views. Read the figure in your monetisation tab rather than the public one under the video, because the two now measure different things.
