Monetisation & Revenue
Affiliate Disclosure
Also called: disclosure, commission disclosure
An affiliate disclosure tells viewers that a link pays the creator if they buy through it. US rules treat this as a consumer-protection matter: the disclosure has to be hard to miss and easy for an ordinary viewer to understand, and burying it at the bottom of a description does not clear that bar, because most viewers never open the description. If the recommendation is spoken, say it out loud. If it is on screen, put it on screen. YouTube's paid-promotion checkbox is a declaration to the platform, and ticking it does not replace telling viewers in your own words.
