Commission Rate

Also called: commission, payout rate

In affiliate and partner programmes, the commission rate sets what you earn when someone buys through your link. It comes as a percentage of order value, a fixed amount per sale, or a fixed amount per qualified action such as a signup or a trial. Software companies often pay recurring commission for as long as the customer stays, which changes the arithmetic completely against a one-off percentage. Read the terms around the rate before you read the rate. Cookie window, whether refunds claw the payment back, whether the percentage drops after an introductory period, and what counts as a qualifying sale all matter more than the headline figure.
