Appointment viewing

Broadcast television built its schedules on this: same time, same day, a habit the viewer forms without effort. Creators borrow it for weekly series, live streams and premieres, where the slot itself becomes part of the format.

It asks a lot of the creator. A slot only trains anybody if it holds for months, and a series that slips repeatedly gives people no reason to check. It also suits some formats far better than others, since a news or reaction show has a reason to be weekly while an evergreen tutorial does not. Treat the slot as a promise, and make it one you can keep every week.
