Ask Me Anything
Also called: AMA, Q&A
The AMA began on Reddit, where a host opens a thread and answers questions in the comments for a couple of hours. Creators now run the same format as a community post, a live stream, a Discord voice room or a members-only session.
It lives or dies on the questions. A cold audience asks nothing at all, so most creators gather questions in advance and open with three or four good ones to prove the format works. Answering properly is the other half, because a straight answer to an awkward question is why people turn up, and a session of careful non-answers reads as promotion.
