Evergreen Content

Also called: evergreen video, evergreen

The test is simple: would this still make sense to someone finding it in three years. Tutorials, explainers and answers to questions people search the same way every month all qualify. YouTube's recommendation system carries on surfacing this kind of video over time, unlike trend-driven uploads that have to find their audience inside a narrow window before interest fades. Two mistakes follow from the label. One is judging an evergreen video on its opening week, when it has barely begun. The other is hearing evergreen as permanent, when software interfaces move, prices move, and an aged tutorial stops being any use.
