Bass Trap

Low frequencies have long wavelengths, so absorbing them takes depth and density that ordinary acoustic foam simply does not have. Bass builds up in corners, where walls, floor and ceiling meet, which is why traps go there. Without them a small room turns boomy: certain notes ring on, your voice sounds like it was recorded inside a box, and EQ never properly undoes it. Two practical points for creators. Treating the corners does more for spoken word than covering the walls in thin panels, and heavy furniture, a full bookshelf or a stuffed wardrobe in the corner already does a partial version of the job.
