Viewers accumulate points automatically while a stream is live, earning more for following, for being subscribed, and for clicking the bonus chest that appears from time to time. Points only work on the channel that issued them.
The streamer decides what they buy, from built-in rewards like highlighting a message to custom ones wired into the stream through a bot or overlay, such as picking the next game or triggering a sound. Setting them up needs Affiliate or Partner status. Their real job is giving lurkers a reason to leave the tab open, since watching is how points accrue.
