Cliffhanger

Also called: cliff-hanger

A cliffhanger is a question you raise and refuse to answer yet. Set one before a section that would otherwise sag, or at the end of a video pointing at the next, and the viewer carries a small unfinished thing with them.

Two failure modes. Stacking them, where every 90 seconds brings a promise and none of them land, teaches the audience to believe none of them. Forgetting to close the loop reads as bait even when it was an honest edit. Open as many as you like, so long as the video pays every one back.
