Confidence interval

Also called: margin of error, error bars

Every measured figure comes with a range around it, and a confidence interval is how wide that range is given the size of the sample. Poll a hundred viewers, find 60% prefer one thumbnail, and the true share might sit anywhere from about 50% to 70%. Small samples are everywhere in creator work. An A/B test on a few thousand impressions, a survey with forty replies, a week of data on a channel that gets ten views a day: all of them produce wide intervals. The interval narrows as the sample grows, and the honest response to a small one is to say you do not know yet.
