Sample size

Also called: n, sample

In statistics, sample size is the count of observations behind a measurement. The practical point for creators is that small numbers swing wildly on their own. A video that reached 300 views and one that reached 340 have told you nothing about which title worked, however tempting the gap looks. The same applies to a thumbnail swapped and judged an hour later, or a format called dead after two attempts. Larger samples narrow the range of plausible explanations, which is why conclusions get more reliable as a channel gets more traffic, and why early-channel analysis is often guesswork dressed up as measurement.
