Image stabilisation

Three approaches, and they behave differently. In-body stabilisation, IBIS, shifts the sensor to counter movement, so it works with whatever lens is attached. Optical stabilisation lives inside the lens and moves an element instead. Electronic stabilisation crops into the frame and slides the image around inside the spare margin, which costs field of view and some resolution. Cameras often combine them. Two limits matter. Stabilisation cleans up small handheld wobble and does nothing for the up-and-down of walking, which needs a gimbal or a different way of moving. Switch it off on a tripod, where it can hunt and introduce a slow drift.
