Inauthentic content policy
Also called: mass-produced content, repetitious content
The rename landed on 15 July 2025, and YouTube framed it as a clarification of a rule that already existed, since mass-produced or repetitive uploads had always been ineligible for monetisation. In July 2026 the single category was split into three: generic and repetitive content, unsatisfying or off-putting content, and AI personas on sensitive topics, with no change in how any of it is applied. Reactions, compilations and AI narration all stay monetisable where the upload carries commentary, editing or context of its own. Content built from a template with little variation between uploads is what fails the test.
