Median

Line your videos up by views, smallest to largest, and the median is the one in the middle. Half the set sits above it and half below. Averages get dragged upwards by a single breakout, so a channel with one video at two million and nine at four thousand has an average above 200,000 and a median of four thousand. The median describes the typical result. Use it whenever you want to judge normal performance, and keep the average for totals and revenue maths, where the big numbers genuinely count.
