Monetisation & Revenue

Ad Revenue

Also called: advertising revenue, ads money

Ad revenue is what a creator earns from advertising sold against their long-form videos and, separately, from the Shorts pool. On standard ad revenue the creator receives roughly 55% and YouTube keeps 45% after fees, which is already accounted for in the figure Studio reports. Two things surprise people. Only a portion of views ever carry an ad, so the money spreads across a far larger view count than the ad count suggests. And ads are one income line among several: YouTube's own reporting says over half of its five-figure-plus earners make money from sources other than ads and Premium.
