Pacing
Also called: edit pace, cut rhythm
Cutting quickly and pacing well are different things. A fast edit that keeps restating one idea drags, while a long unbroken take can fly when something inside it is still developing. What an audience feels is the rate of new information: a fact, a joke, a change of angle, a shift in tone. Uniformity is where it goes wrong, because a video cut to a constant rhythm turns into wallpaper and people stop noticing anything.
