Soundproofing and acoustic treatment get used interchangeably and they solve opposite problems. Treatment absorbs reflections inside a room so your voice stops bouncing. Soundproofing keeps the neighbour's dog, the road and the boiler from reaching your microphone in the first place, and that needs weight in the walls, a solid door and every air gap sealed. Foam panels achieve none of it. They are treatment, and cheap treatment at that. For a home setup the realistic version is a heavy curtain over the door, a rug, a draught excluder, and recording when the street is quiet.
