Supercut

Also called: montage supercut

Take a running gag, a verbal tic, a stock phrase or a camera move, find every occurrence across a body of material, and cut them together with nothing between. Fifty repetitions of the same line in ninety seconds lands in a way a single clip never does.

It is both a technique and a format in its own right, and it lives well as a Short. The work is all in the sourcing. You need enough instances to make the point, and the discipline to cut the weak ones. Using someone else's footage for one raises copyright questions that the comedy does not answer.
