Burnout

Also called: creator burnout

The World Health Organization describes burn-out through three signs: energy depletion, growing mental distance from the job or negative feelings about it, and reduced effectiveness at doing it. It sits in their classification as an occupational phenomenon, which places it outside the list of medical conditions.

Creator work supplies every ingredient. The output never finishes. The feedback is public and constant, the schedule is self-imposed so nobody else says stop, and one person is doing the filming, the editing, the thumbnails, the emails and the accounts. Tiredness is the least reliable sign. The one to watch is finding that work you chose has become unpleasant to sit down to, since a week off repairs fatigue and leaves that untouched.
