Monetisation & Revenue

Channel Memberships

Also called: memberships, channel membership, join, Channel Membership

Memberships turn regular viewers into recurring payers. A viewer taps Join, picks a level, and pays monthly for whatever that level includes: a loyalty badge beside their name in comments and live chat, custom emoji, members-only posts, videos, live streams or a Discord invite. Creators set the levels and the perks, YouTube takes a share and handles the billing. The feature has to be switched on for the channel, which means clearing the Partner Program requirements first. Memberships reward people who already turn up every week, so they suit channels with a returning audience more than channels whose views arrive once and never come back.
