Bumper Ad
Also called: bumper, six second ad
Google introduced the format in 2016 as a way to buy reach in very short bites. Bumpers run before, during or after a video and cannot be skipped. They are bought on CPM, so the advertiser pays per thousand impressions, and a viewer who ignores one counts the same as a viewer who watches. For a creator they are ordinary in-stream inventory, a slot the ad system may fill on a monetised video, with no separate switch controlling bumpers on their own.
