Cloud storage

Google Drive, Dropbox, Backblaze and the rest keep copies of your files on someone else's hardware, reachable from anywhere. For creators the two jobs are backup and handover: an offsite copy that survives a fire or a stolen laptop, and a link that gets forty gigabytes of footage to an editor without posting a drive. Two things bite. A sync folder does not count as a backup, because a file you delete or corrupt locally propagates to the cloud copy within seconds unless the service keeps versions. And your upload speed, rather than the storage price, decides whether cloud handover is realistic for raw footage.
