Cohort
Also called: cohort analysis, viewer cohort
Take everyone who subscribed in March and follow only those people month by month. That is a cohort. Aggregate figures blend new arrivals with long-standing viewers, which flatters a channel that is growing and disguises one where fresh subscribers drift off within weeks. Cohort analysis separates the two. Creators use it most for memberships and email lists, where the real question is how many of the people who joined in a given month are still around six months later. Studio's reports are aggregate, so most creators build cohorts by hand from membership exports or their email platform.
