Policy, Copyright & Compliance
Content ID match policy
Also called: match policy, claim policy, block policy, track policy, monetise policy
When Content ID finds a reference file inside somebody's video, it applies whatever policy the rights holder set in advance. Monetise runs ads and sends that money to the claimant. Track leaves the video up without ads and reports the viewing data back. Block makes it unwatchable, sometimes only in named countries.
Music claims are usually set to monetise, so a video carrying a licensed-sounding track often stays live and earns you nothing. A claim is a commercial decision by the claimant, so it brings no copyright strike and no effect on your channel standing, and disputing one is an argument with the rights holder.
